Please visit the Student Learning Centre at SIM HQ Blk A level 5, A.5.01B (Mondays to Fridays 11am to 5pm) for information regarding Writing Point.

Hours available:

29 January 2018 to 06 April 2018

You may only book up to 2 weeks in advance and up to 2 appointments in a month; so do check the site regularly for opened up slots.

Do take note of the below policies and expectations of the programme before booking an appointment:

      Consultation Policies

-   Limit students (individual or group) to 1 slot per week and it’s by appointment on a first-come-first-served basis and you may only book up to 2 weeks in advance; so do check the site regularly for opened up slots.

-   10 min waiting time will be given to students. After which the slot is open to other students on the wait list. No time extension is allowed if student is late.

-  You can put yourself in the waiting list by booking a slot via the Writing Point Programme (waiting list). Do note that your slot will only be confirmed if our staff called you to confirm the details. The purpose of the waiting list is to allow you to take up the slot if any student cancelled their slot (or have been removed due to violating our policies).

-  Please cancel your appointment at least 24 hours before your session by emailing us at Learning@sim.edu.sg. In the case that you fail to do so, you will be debarred for 2 weeks from using our services.

Expectations:

-   Advisors offer feedback and advice on written and oral assignments and communication tasks and NOT to provide a proofreading service (e.g. referencing, structure). The purpose is to help students to become a better writer or presenter.

-   Students need to come prepared to discuss actively about assignment (bring your own work or drafts and set the agenda of you want to do). For longer paper (> 1,000 words), please prepare a reflection or key points to assist the advisor to understand your paper rather than spending majority of the time reading; this is for students who already have specific questions with regards to their work.

-   A student is ultimately responsible for making decisions regarding the final version they will submit, not the advisor.

-   Advisors’ role is not to evaluate the suitability of assignments set by faculty. Students' questions about content will be encouraged to seek clarification from the person setting the task.

Do note that you do not need to enter your phone number when booking but do enter a valid mymail email address or your appointment will be retracted. In the case you have any enquiries, feel free to email in to us at Learning@sim.edu.sg.

VENUE FOR CONSULTATION: Student Learning Centre, SIMHQ BLOCK A, LEVEL 5, A.5.01B
